Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust
& Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association
Halibut and sablefish are some of the cornerstones of Alaska’s huge fishing industry. The Alaska Sustainable Fisheries Trust is making sure small-boat Alaskans have access to these vital resources, and is working with Tribal Governments, Alaska Native Corporations, municipalities, and other organizations to help return vital fishing rights to rural and Alaska Native communities.
“Sustainability isn’t just about the fish. It’s about jobs. Alaska is the biggest seafood source for the country. Every year, the ocean is naturally generating this food source. It doesn’t take up any chemicals. It doesn’t take up any land. It’s a wonderful natural producer.”
